Wraparound Care Assistant

My client, an Independent boarding and day school in leafy Hertfordshire, is seeking to appoint a Wraparound Care Assistant to nurture and care for our Pre-Prep and Shell pupils. As Wraparound Care Assistant, the post holder will support in the effective and efficient daily running of the Late Stay sessions, therefore experience working with children of these ages is essential.

All staff are given the resources and training they need to fulfil their role to the best of their ability, and our pupils benefit greatly from this.


The Wraparound Care Assistant will be responsible to the Head of Pre-Prep, although day to day tasks will be set by the Teachers and Teaching Assistants, with whom the Wraparound Care Assistant will be expected to work closely.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the running of the Late Stay Club during term time.

  • To undertake duties and responsibilities as a child care worker, facilitating play activities for children aged 4 to 9 years old.

  • Supervision of children and encouraging good behaviour.

  • Clear and positive communication with staff, children and parents.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues as part of a professional team.

  • Any other duties which reasonably fall within the purpose of the post and which may be allocated by the Head of the Pre-Prep or Deputy Head of the Prep School.


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Good GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent (or higher) level relevant qualification.

Desirable

  • Paediatric First Aid.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of working with children, particularly those of KS1 and KS2.

  • Ability to excite, inspire and nurture children.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to gain and sustain the confidence of parents and other staff.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a school or other relevant setting.
